Anxiety or Panic attacks are different than other disorders. Anxiety affects every system in the body from your thoughts to how often you have a bowel movement. Because of this, attacks of overwhelming anxiety or panic can have a drastic effect on a person who suffers from them. It is estimated that 35-40% of the population suffers from panic attacks in some form or another over the course of a year. Women tend to experience panic attacks more than men, and these range from mild to debilitating in severity.
There is a popular tool used among healthcare professionals for the diagnosis of anxiety attacks called the Beck Anxiety Inventory.
